Humoral Immune Responce Flashcards
What is the model answer for humoral responce?
-T-helper cells bind to complementary antigens produced by the specific B-cells (clonal selection).
-T-helper cells activate B-cells.
-B cells divide by
mitosis to produce plasma cells and memory B cells (clonal expansion).
-Cloned plasma cells produce specific complementary antibodies to antigens on pathogen.
-Antibodies destroy the pathogen.
What is aggutination?
-Most antibodies cannot effect bodies cells once they form an antibody-antigen complex so stops anything happening.
What is neutralisation?
Act as antitoxins binding with toxins produced by pathogens making them harmless.
What is an antibody?
A protein specific to an antigen produced by B-cells.
What is clonal selection?
Each B-cell forms different antibodies, T cell has to find the complementary B cell with receptors which takes time.
What is clonal expansion?
Once B-cell is activated and gone through mitosis, lots of memory and plasma cells are produced.
