Cancer Flashcards
How is cancer caused?
Caused by viruses, toxic agents, unhealthy behaviour ,genteics and radiation.
How is cancer spread?
-The genes in the nucules mutates DNA and leads to abnormal cell growth.
-This leads to a new tumor growth.
-The tumor produces more red blood cells to grow.
When do cancer cells become dangerous?
When the tumour metastersizes to new parts of the body and infects other healthy cells.
What is cancer?
When genes become damaged or mutated and leads to the growth of abnormal cells (a tumour)
What are the three ways cancer can be treated?
Surgery, raidiotherapy and chemotherapy
Why do cancer therapies have side effects?
The therapies can effect and kill cancer cells but also the healthy cells.
How do cancer treatments effect the cell cycle?
-Preventing DNA replication during G1 and S phase.
-Preventing mitosis by interfering with spindle formation or contraction during mitosis.
-Deliberating damaging DNA so the cell destroys itself.
