- Test for IgG (Immunoglobulin G):
Immunoglobulin G is a type of antibody. Representing approximately 75% of serum antibodies in humans, IgG is the most common type of antibody found in blood circulation. The measurement of immunoglobulin G can be a diagnostic tool for certain conditions. Clinically, measured IgG antibody levels are generally considered to be indicative of an individual’s immune status to particular pathogens. Normal Ranges Adult: IgG 6.0 - 16.0g/L

IgM is the largest antibody, and it is the first antibody to appear in the response to initial exposure to an antigen. IgM in normal serum is often found to bind to specific antigens, even in the absence of prior immunization. For this reason, IgM has sometimes been called a “natural antibody”. Delipidation: In order to remove lipids from serum, the fumed silica precipitation method is used. Fumed silica is added to serum, non-polar substances such as lipids and steroids will adsorb to the surface of fumed silica. Afterwards the solution is centrifuged and the pellet of silica with adsorbed lipids is removed.
