What is reproduction?
Reproduction is the process whereby new individuals (offspring) are made from their parents
What is Gamete?
Gametes are sex cells (egg and sperm)
What happens during fertilisation?
Fertilisation happens when the nucleus of a sperm cell fuses with the nucleus of an egg cell to form a zygote
What is a zygote?
A zygote is a fertilised egg
Explain what the menstrual cycle is
The menstrual cycle is the monthly series of changes a woman’s body goes through to prepare for the possibility of pregnancy. Ovulation and menstruation are part of this cycle.
(Cycle takes 28 days)
What is ovulation?
Ovulation is the time during the menstrual cycle when an egg is released from the ovary into the fallopian tube.
What is menstrual?
Menstruation is the process of blood and tissue that has built up in the uterus breaking down and leaving the body through the vagina
What is the fertile period?
The fertile period occurs during the menstrual cycle. This is the time during the cycle when fertilisation can occur and the female can become pregnant
