Organ where food is churned with digestive juices and acids
Stomach (right side on diagram of digestive system)
organ that makes and releases digestive juices containing enzymes to break down food
Pancreas (behind/under stomach)
Organ where small digested molecules are absorbed into bloodstream
Small intestine (boxed within large intestine)
Organ which absorbs water and propels feces toward the rectum
Large intestine (around the small intestine)
Organ which make salivas, a digestive juice, which moistens food so it moves more easily through your oesophagus into your stomach
Salivary glands
First organ of the digestive system, where food is chewed and broken down
Mouth
opening at the end of the large bowel where we pass poo (stools) out of the body.
Anus (below/after the rectum)
where your poop collects just before it’s ready to come out. absorbs the excess water
Rectum
Organ that’s job is to make bile
Liver (left of the stomach)
Gall bladder job
stores and concentrates bile from the liver.
