huckle exam 1 Flashcards
angiotensin II
vasoconstrictor hormone that helps maintain basal BP level
atrial natiuretic peptide (ANP)
vasodilator hormone that indirectly suppresses angiotensin II production. increases urinary Na+ and water excretion
what are the two types of endothelial factors that regulate local blood flow
vasoconstrictors (angiotensin II) and vasodilators (nitric oxide, PGI2)
What do metabolites do to regulate local blood flow
vasodilation to increase blood perfusion
What are autacoids and examples of them
Vasodilators or vasoconstrictors that modulate local tissue perfusion. Histamine and Bradykinin (aterioloar dilation), Serotonin (ateriolar constriction) and Prostaglandins (both)
What can inhibit the Myogenic Response?
Amlodipine (vasodilator drug)
Main goal of Global Vascular control
ensure brain/heart receive adequate blood flow
sympathetic NS
Main goal of local vascular control
ensure the local tissue receives adequate blood flow to meet its metabolic demands
Arteriole end vs Venule end with regards to oncotic and hydrostatic pressure iv. Oncotic and Hydrostatic Pressure Relationship:
- ARTERIOLE END = ULTRAFILTRATION vessel hydrostatic pressure > interstitial oncotic pressure FLUID MOVES OUTWARD of capillaries (colloids in vessel exerting LESS pressure than blood in vessel)
- VENULE END = REABSORPTION vessel hydrostatic pressure < interstitial oncotic pressure FLUID MOVES INWARD to capillaries (colloids in vessel exerting MORE pressure than blood in vessel)
