What is a hub?

A

A repeater that repeats signals it receives from one port out to the rest of the ports.

How does traffic work with a hub?

A

All hosts receive all traffic, as the hub copies the frames and send them out of ALL ports except where it came from.

How does a hub slow down the network?

A

Because hubs are designed for each host connected to it to receive all traffic. So when other hosts get traffic not intended for them, it uses extra bandwidth, causing the network to run slower than it should.

A

Keeps a table of all connected MAC Addresses. MAC Address Table. They know what port hosts are connected to.
