Define Occupational Injury.
ANY injury such as a cut, fracture, sprain, amputation which results from work related incident or exposure involving a single incident in the work environment. Conditions resulting from animal bites, such as snake bites, insect bites or from one time exposure to chemicals are considered injuries.
Define Occupational (Industrial) Illness.
Any abnormal condition or disorder, caused by exposure to environmental factors associated with employment. Includes; chronic illness and diseases which may be caused by inhalation, absorption, ingestion, repeated trauma, stress, or direct contact.
Define Record Only Injury/Illness
Non-disabling. Does not require first aid or medical treatment.
Define First Aid Injury or Illness
Minor& non-disabling which involve one time medical treatment. Cuts, splinters, burns.
Define Non-disabling Injury or Illness.
Employee returns to work following the date of illness/injury. Injured during shift & completes shift. Injured during shift & unable to complete shift, however, returns to work the following day.
Define Disabling Injury or Illness
Unable to return to work following the date of injury/illness. Injured during shift & incapable of reporting to work for THE NEXT SCHEDULED WORK SHIFT or any subsequent shift.
Define Serious/Traumatic Injury or Illness
Disabling requiring lengthy disability status or retirement.
Define Hazardous Exposure
Exposed to chemical, biological, or physical agent not resulting in injury or illness.
Define Recurrence of Injury or Illness.
Recurrence does NOT HAVE A NEW, CLEARLY DEFINED INCIDENT TO CAUSE injury or illness. It is a SPONTANEOUS REAPPEARANCE of a PRIOR CONDITION.
Define Aggravation of Injury or Illness
Has an IDENTIFIABLE NEW INCIDENT OF INJURY OR ILLNESS.
Define Questionable Injury or Illness
Substantial evidence questions whether Injury or Illness is employment related. Substantial evidence must exist before a claim is deemed questionable.
Commanders shall report case management to division (how often)?
Quarterly
Commanders shall provide notification of any employee who is off duty for more than __ days to who?
30 days. And to AC, Division, DRU and HRS by comm-net the day after the first 30 days of absence.
Should supervisor be present when employee is being examined by doctor?
Shall not: however shall accompany employee if practical to medical appointment and discuss work capability with physician.
