how to write a lab report. Flashcards
what do you write first?
your goals/objectif. write 1-2 sentences about what you’re being asked to do and how you will do it.
what do you write second (after the goals)?
materials. know the equipment (write down everything you’re using). ex. beaker, test tubes, pH paper.
what do you write third (after the materials)?
procedure (be clear and to the point). no personnel pronouns; always start with a verb. no calculations. no results. go step by step. be precise. use proper vocabulary. write down quantities (if available). separate procedure into different sections.
what do you write fourth (after the procedure)?
analysis. remember difference between observations and results. (observations: what you actually see. results: whatever those observations mean). talk about negative results. ex. make a connection between the user and the drug, why do you think the athlete is using this specific drug? spot errors.
what do you write fifth (after analysis)?
conclusion. write 2 sentences and briefly answer your initial question. give a brief summary of what you found to prove that.
