How the Earth works Lecture 1: Origin of the Universe and the Solar System Flashcards
Define the Anthroposphere
The anthroposphere is the impacts of humanity on the planet.
Give the exact speed of light?
300,000km/s
What is 1 lightyear equivalent to?
9.5trillion km
What is the closest star to our solar system and how far away is it?
Alpha Centauri
4.3 Lightyears away
40.85 trillion km
Define the doppler effect?
The doppler effect is the change in frequency of a wave or waves in relation to an observer who is either moving closer or further away from the source (or vice versa - the source moving closer or further away from the observer)
We can use the doppler effect to observe whether other galaxies(pictured through the JWST) are moving closer or further away from us. Which we can use to argue the big bang theory.
Define the big bang theory
Matter formed in an explosive event 13.7billion year ago.
