Duchenne muscular dystrophy

A

⦁ oral corticosteroid prednisone 0.75 mg/kg/day to slow the rate of decline- only start medicine during plateau phase of the disease b/c of steroid risks.

⦁ ACE inhibitors and ARBS are recommended after 10 to help with cardiac afterload reduction

⦁ β-Blockers, digoxin, furosemide, and other cardiac medications may be required.

⦁ Vitamin D and calcium to help with decreased bone density
