Hands. 1 hand = 4 inches and is measured from the ground to the point of the whithers

describe the process of placing a microchip in a horse
- prior to implantation scan the neck for pre-existing microchip and scan the microchip to be implanted to ensure functioning correctly
- implant microchip in or adjacent to nuchal ligament at the top of the left mid crest
- after implatantion re-scan to ensure successful implantation
- when completeing passport, should record if microchip has migrated
