A

2-7 or 8 weeks of age (sensitive period)

- cats are likely to be fearful of new experiences encountered outside of thi time of life
- the broader the range and greater the number of experiences the more adaptable the cat will be to novel situations as an adult

a cat’s personality is not only about experineces, can also be influenced by behavioural needs, genetics and personality and how a cat feels and behaves in any situation

A
  • territorial (have boundaries and maintain them, like to be in control of environment and become stressed when not, do not always need company of other cats, have social traits and needs)
  • predator and prey species (hunters as obligate carnivores but also naturally fearful of unknown - good at climbing trees and hiding to escape danger)
  • cope with danger by running away, getting up high and hiding or fight but aggression is last resort as not a good survival tactic
