How many stages are in the menstrual cycle

What is stage 1 of the menstrual cycle?
Day 1 - bleeding starts and the uterus lining breaks down for about 4 days
What is stage 2 of the menstrual cycle?
The lining of the uterus build up againg from day 4-14
What is stage 3 of the nest rial cycle?
An egg is released from the ovary at day 14
What is stage 4 of the menstrual cycle?
The wall is maintained for 14 days until day 28. If no fertilised egg has landed on the uterus wall by day 28 the spongy lining darts to breaks down and the cycle starts again
What does FSH do and where is it produced?
it is produced by the pituitary gland , cause an egg to mature in one of the ovaries , stimulates the ovaries to produce Oestrogen
What does oestrogen do and where is in produced?
It is produced in the ovaries as it causes the pituitary to produce LH. It also inhibits the further release of FSH
What does LH do and where is it produced?
It is produced in the pituitary gland and it stimulates the release of an egg at around the middle of the cycle
What are the most common hormones in contraceptive?
Oestrogen and LH as they stop the egg maturing and being released
Name a pro and con of the contraceptive pill
Pro - 99% effective
Con - format protect against STDS
What hormones are used to increase fertility?
FSH and LH can be injected to stimulate an eggs release in the ovaries
