hormone control of reproduction Flashcards
what is a hormone and how do they travel in the body
there chemical messangers, they travel through target tissues and receptors
give info on releaser hormone
occurs: hypothalamus
target tissue: pituitary gland
Impact: pituitary gland starts to secret 2 hormones (FSH, ICSH) (FSH, LH)
give some info on follicle stimulating hormone (FSH in men)
occurs: pituitary gland
target tissue: seminiferous tubules
Impact: stimulates sperm production
give some info on interstitial cell stimulating hormone (ICSH)
occurs: pituitary gland
target tissue: interstitial cell
Impact: starts testosterone production
give some info on follicle stimulating hormone (FSH in women)
occurs: pituitary gland
target tissue: ovaries
Impact: tells follicles to mature around the ova, sucreates sex hormone: oestrogen to protect ova.
give some info on lutensing hormone (LH)
occurs: pituitary gland
target tissue: ovaries
Impact: triggers ovulation and stimulates development of corpus luteum from the remaining follicle.
give some info on oestrogen
occurs: follicles
target tissue: uterus
Impact: repairs and thickens uterus lining.
give some info on progesterone
occurs: corpus luteum
target tissue: uterus
Impact: further thickens uterus and generates a blood supply.
