how does the process work?

A
  • FSH develops primary follicle into Graafian follicle and oestrogen is produced
  • oestrogen stimulates LH stimulation
  • LH cause Graafian follicle to form corpus luteum
  • progesterone levels increased and oestrogen (negative feedback)
  • cycle starts again because pituitary is no longer suppressed

  • ovaries stop producing oestrogen and progesterone
  • stop releasing eggs
  • no menstruation
  • atrophy (degeneration of sexual organs)

  • copulation : coitus; sperm deposited near cervix; start journey to fallopian tubes
  • fertilisation : fusion of sperm nucleus with eggs nucleus to form zygote (diploid)
