What are endocrine glands?
A
They are ductless glands.
They consist of groups of cells which manufacture and release the hormone directly into the blood in the capillaries which run through the gland.

What does the adrenal cortex do?
A
Secretes steroid hormones, e.g. coristol and aldosterone.
Stimulates the breakdown of proteins and fats into glucose.
Increase blood volume and pressure by increasing the uptake of sodium ions and water in the kidneys.
Suppressing the immune system.

What does the adrenal medulla do?
A
It secretes adrenaline and noradrenaline.
Increases breathing and heart rate.
Dilates pupils.
Restricts some blood vessels.
Converts glycogen to glucose.
