zeppelins-

A

huge inflated air ships
germans flew them over the eastern parts of britain dropping bombs on cities and towns e.g yarmouth
by the end of war there had been 50 zeppelin raids
over 500 bombs killing 557 people
injuring over 1300 people
there was also battleships and bomber plain planes attacking britain

new law government introduced when war broke out in 1914
a government had power to do whatever necessary to win war e.g taxes to pay for the weapons america gave could dig mines

rationing-

A

limiting of food or services that are high in demand but in short supply

food was short as german submarines and battle ships were sinking the boats with supplies.bc of this government introduced rationing so food waqs equally shared out as many of the goods were limited and bc short supplies prices went up people became very poor

A

around 70 million fought with over 8 million dying from britain and their empires
2 million injured some more severe than others
estimated only 12 towns had not lost a man in fighting with some communities nearly losing a whole gen of men

women in war-

A

with so many men away fighting women had no choice but to do their jobs
lots of women soon after were busdrivers, chimney sweepers e.g
thousands found work in shipyards,weapon factories, ambulance and police and fire services
1915- women land army
women could work in farming replacing the men
