Hodgkins Lymphoma -P Flashcards
What is Hodgkin’s Lymphoma?
neoplastic proliferation of Reed- Sternberg (RS) cells
- large B cells
- Multi-lobed nucleus
- Nucleoli
- CD15+ and CD30+
What is the classical difference between Hodgkin’s and NHL?
NHL masses are full of neoplastic cells
- Hodgkin’s is RS cells which recruit reactive immune cells. It is this migration which creates the mass
What are B symptoms?
Fevers
Chills
Nights sweats
Weight loss
What reactive cells do RS cells recruit?
Lymphocytes
Plasma cells
Macs
Eosinophils
What does RS cytokines cause?
- B symptoms
- recruitment of reactive cells
- Fibrosis
What are the subtypes of Hodgkins lymphoma?
- Nodular sclerosis
- Lymphocyte- rich
- Mixed cellularity
- Lymphocyte- Depleted
What is the most common Hodgkins lymphoma?
Nodular sclerosis 70% of case
- Enlarging cervical or medistinal LN
What age and sex individual classical presents with Nodular sclerosis subtypes of Hodgkins lymphoma?
Young adult females
What is the classic histological finding of Nodular sclerosis?
LN divided by sclerosis (fibrosis )
- RS cells are present in lake like spaces called lecunar cells
What is to be known about lymphocyte rich Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
best prognosis
What is a common finding of mixed cellularity Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
Increased eosinophils and caused by increased IL-5
What Hodgkins subtypes has the worst prognosis?
Lymphocyte- depleted
