HNPCC and FAP Flashcards
1
Q
Genetic pathway of APC/beta-catenin
A
- APC/beta-catenin inactivation (both alleles)
- beta-catenin accumulation and traslocation to the nucleus
- beta-catenin forming complex with DNA-binding factor (TCF)
- MYC and cyclin D1genes activation (promote proliferation)
- Additional mutations may occur in KRAS gene present in 50% of invasive colon adenocarcinomas
2
Q
MSI pathway
A
- Missmatch repair enzymes mutation
- Acumulation of mutations in microsatellites
- Loss of function in TGFBR2 (II TGF-beta receptor) and BAX.
