What do infectious lymph nodes feel like?
Cannot be palpated; are round/oval, soft, and mobile; and hurts/is tender
What do malignant lymph nodes feel like?
Round/oval, hard, fixed, non-tender
What should you check the hair for?
Quality, distribution, texture, and pattern of loss
What can fine, silky hair indicate?
Hyperthyroidism
What can thinning, coarse hair indicate?
Hypothyroidism
What should you check the scalp for?
Scaliness, lumps, lesions
What two areas of the head should be checked for tenderness?
Mastoid/vertebral column down to vertebral prominens
What characteristics of the face should you observe?
Expressions, contour, asymmetry, involuntary movements, edema, masses
What characteristics of the skin should you observe for?
Color, pigmentation, texture, thickness, hair distribution, lesions, tattoos/piercings
What can facial droopiness signify?
Stroke, parotitis, eye infection, etc.
