Climate and a change to our food source changed us to take a life of farming (8000 BC) and it helped us stop moving and become sedentary
What is significant about the Fertile Crescent and how did it spread from there
It had the best setup with lots of good animals and plants which made them the first civilization to become civilized
What does Geographic luck mean?
It means to have good plants around you and domestic animals
What are six characteristics of civilized life?
Writing(Helped us pass down information), Religion(Built beliefs for everyone), Government (Established a law and security), Specialization ( Freed up space for trading), Cities (Brought together specialists, resources, and allowed for growth), Social hierarchy (Classes emerged once we sat in one spot)

Location: Tigris & Euphrates, oldest civilization, traded with Egypt and Indus, and first writing (cuneiform)

Location: The Nile, religion was important (Mummification and afterlife), tombs and pharaohs
Indus
Location: Indus River, Largest ancient civilization, peaceful, clean, and well organized.
Greece
Location: Balkan Peninsula, First democracy, Sparta and Athens, city state which governed itself
Rome
Location: Italian Peninsula, created a republic and a empire, safe haven for spread of Christianity, Pax Romana expanded roads and trade
