19
Q

What were some problems Britain faced over America?

A

America was huge, Britain couldn’t hold it all but had to station troops to prevent uprising this limited troops on field. Americans know the land. America had Spain, France and the Netherlands, everyone wanted to beat England. It took 2 weeks for messages and troops to go from Britain to America.

20
Q

Why do you think America won against the British

A

I think the reason that America won the war against the Great forces and warfare of the British was because of the contrast between the two forces.
America used guerrilla warfare which was one of the most effective ways to fight the British.
The British force was more trained in warfare and fighting, having the strongest Navy in the world.
But Britain was unfamiliar to the military tactics the guerrilla group used with ambushes, raids and “protests” such as the tea protest, where the Americans called for the British to lower the unfair taxes. This was what America could use to their advantage. As they knew the weak and strong points of their country, they could fight the British with effective tactics the British weren’t familiar with, - they would easily lose if it were a usual battle

21
Q

What was guerrilla warfare

A

Guerrilla warfare is a form of irregular warfare in which a small group of combatants, such as paramilitary personnel, armed civilians, or irregulars use military tactics including ambushes, sabotage, raids, petty warfare, hit-and-run tactics, and mobility, to fight a larger and less-mobile traditional military.

26

A

Oliver Cromwell was strict, a good war leader and strict Puritan

27
Q

What didn’t people like about Oliver Cromwell

A

They didn’t like that he failed wars, tried to maintain a big army. Made high (Er than Charles) taxes. Ban on dancing, singing, theatres, pubs and Christmas. For 5 years ruled without parliament.

28
Q

What happened after Oliver died

After Oliver died his son tried to rule but he didn’t want to and the people didn’t want him so they did something called the “monarchy restoration” and restored Charles (1660)
