What do you need to ferment yeast
You need sugar, water, tepid water, warmth and time, vitamin c speeds it up
What does tepid mean
Tepid means, warm or slightly hot. Eg microwaving water for 30 seconds
What happens to the yeast of the water is too hot
It will be killed
What does dormant mean eg “the yeast is dormant”
It means it has not been activated with tepid water, vitamin c etc so it will not make the bread rise etc

Self raising flour is a plain flour with a standard baking agent added it needs to heat and moisture to activate the CO2 production
