When was writing developed?
Depending on the demands of trade, faith, and government, writing was developed in different places. In
Mesopotamia in the 4th millennium BCE.
Devine Origins of Writing?
The Sumerians believed the god Enlil developed writing. The Assyrians believed it to be Nabu, the scribe of the Gods.
Why did Socrates poison himself?
Charged with “refusing to recognize the gods recognized by the state” and corrupting the youth of Athens. Socrates was found guilty by a jury of his peers. His behavior during the trial led the jurors to convict him of death by state poisoning.

In 395 CE Honorius and Arcadius the sons of Emperor Theodosius, divided the empire in two which affected trade, revenues from taxes, and the pool of men for military. Then in 429 the Vandals began a 10 year siege of North Africa, the breadbasket of Rome and then in 461, Emperor Majorian was murdered before the siege of N. Africa and everything fell apart.
Who invented gun powder?
Gunpowder was invited invented in China in the ninth century CE. It spread along the Silk Road in the 13th century which made its way to Europe.

Debatably the Fertile Crescent ( ancient Middle East, centered on the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers) around 3500 BCE. But also in other locations like Mesoamerica, the Indus River valley in Modern-day Pakistan or the Yellow River in China.
Where was the Bubonic Plague from?

Why was the Magna Carta important?
The Magna Carta was signed by King John in 1215. It established the principle that the powers of the stat are limited and that individual citizens have rights that should be protected by law. The concept of human rights has grown to be widely accepted and is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
When was the Printing Press invented?
Gutenberg’s printing press changed the world with incredible speed. Education, law, government, and commerce were all revolutionized by the invention of the printing press. Bools became less expensive and more widely available, new ideas could be circulated far and wide, and literacy became a useful skill for a much broader section of society. Established institutions began to feel threatened and weakened by the changes. Gutenberg had started an information revolution.
What did Columbus do in 1492?
In 1492, Columbus did much more than sail the ocean blue. He did not discover America, which was already populated. What he did do was change our understanding of the globe, bring deadly diseases to the native populations, and alter the balance of power in Europe. Not bad for three ships, a couple of months, and a mistaken landfall.
Who was Thomas Paine?

In doing so, he helped to forment two revolutions, one that reshaped the Old World and another shaped the New World. His writings are still engaging, controversial, and relevant today.
