Histology Of The Urianary Tract Flashcards
What does the parietal layer of the bowmans capulse consist of?
A simple, squamous epithelium
What are some of the features in the filtration barrier of the bowmans capulse???
The capillary endothelium is fenestrated, podcytes invest within the capillary endothelium, making filtration slits, spaces between the podocyte processes
What is the epithelium in the PCT?
Simple cubodial with a prounonuced brush border
What are the 4 parts of the loop of henle?
The pars recta, the thin descending limb, thin ascending limb and the thick ascending limb
What is the epithelium in the thin descending limb of the loop of henle?
Has a simple sqaumous epithelia, with no active transport or active reabsorption
What is the histology of the thick ascending limb?
Has a simple cubodial epithelium, containing many mitochondria but has NO brush border
What does the juxtaglomeular apparatus consist of?
The macula densa of the distal convuluted tubule, the juxtaglomeular cells that secrete renin and the extraglomeular mesanigal cells
What does the filitration barrier in the glomerulus consist of?
Capillary endothelium, which is peremable, the basement mebrnae, a cellular gelationus layer of collagen/glycoprotiens and the podcyte layer where pseuopodia interdigitate and form filtration sites
What is the epithelium in the thick ascending limb of the loop of henle?
Simple cubdoial epithelium
What are the features of the epithelium in the distal convultued tubule?
Makes contact with the glomeular cells, compared to the pct has no brush border and a larger lumen
What are some of the features of the epithelium in the collecting duct?
Simlilar appaearance the thick loop fo henele but the lumen tends to be larger and more irregular
What are some of the features of the renal pyramid?
Has progressively larger ducts that are formed by the merging of the collecting ducts that empty at the renal papillae
What are some of the features of the bladder?
3 layers of muscle, outer adventita and transitional epithelium
What are some of the features of the ureter?
A muscular tube, lined by two layers of smooth muscle- a third is found in the lower parts, and is lined by transitional epithelium
What are some of the features of the urothelium?
Stratified epithelium, and umbrella cells on the surface epithelium which make it impermeable
