Blood Supply In The Kidney Flashcards
What are the forces that cause plasma to filitrate in the kidneys?
Hydrostatic pressure in the capillary, hydrostatic pressure in the bowmans capulse and the oncotic pressure difference
What is the autoregulatory response to an increase in blood pressure?
Afftere aterioles constrict therefore keeping the glomeular filitration rate the same
What is the autoregularory response to a decrease in blood pressure>
The afferent atriole dilated and therefore the GFR is unchanged
What does the proccess of tubular glomeular feedback rely on?
MD cells responsidng to changes in the NACL arriving in the DCT
What is the transporter involved in the tubular glomeular feedback system?
Nak2Cl
How does glomeular tubular feedback affect the glomeular filtration rate?
The juxtaglomeular appartus realeases different chemicals, to reduce the GFR adenosine, a vasodilator of the EA is realeased, whereas to increase the GFR prostagladins, vasodilitors of the AA are realeased
How would you compare the size of corticla and juxtamedullary nephrons?
Cortical nephrons are found in the outer part of the coretx and have a small glomeruls and loop of henle, whereas juxtamedullary nephrons are ofund in the inner part of cortex near to the medullay, have a big glomerulus and a longer loop of henle
How would you compare the blood supply’s of the cortical and the Juxtamedullary nephrons?
In the cortical nephrons AA>EA in diameter, and the ea forms the pertiubular capilleries, whereas in juxtamedullary nephrons the AA= EA and the EA forms the vasa recta
Compare the sympathetic nerve innervations of the cortical and the Juxtamedullary nephrons?
Rich sympatheic nervous innervation in the cortical nephrons, whereas there is poor sympatheic nervous inneveration
Compare concentration of renin in the juxtamedullary and the cortical nephrons?
High concentration of renin in the cortical nephrons whereas there is a low concentration of renin in the Juxtamedullary nephrons
What are the different parts of the filitration barrier in the glomerulus?
Capillary endothelium, the basement membrane and the podocyte layer
