Histo - neuroonc Flashcards
NF2 (neurofibromatosis type II)
Seizure symptoms
meningioma
A malignant, invasive embryonal tumour of the cerebellum, seen in children, mainly neuronal differentiation and a tendency to metastasise via CSF pathway
Medulloblastoma
‘YOUNG AND MALIGNANT’
Young person, cystic, indolent
Rosenthal fibres
Granular bodies
Piloid “hairy” cell
Pilocytic astrocytoma
Pilo is indolent, medullo is invasive!
‘YOUNG’ and ‘INDOLENT’
Grading says you are dead in a year. What grade is this?
IV
Grade I - Long term survival/cured
Grade II - Death in >5y
Grade III - Death <5y
Grade IV - Death 6 months - 1y
Soft, gelatinous, calcified
IDH1, Frontal lobe in 50-60% of cases
Long history of neurological signs (seizures more frequent)
Oligodendroma
Better prognosis than astrocytoma
‘CALCIFIED’
Ventricular tumour, hydrocephalus, visual loss due to pap oedema
Ependymoma
FLUID
Age peaks at 5 and 35
Most common glial, diffuse, swollen, fibrillary
Diffuse astrocytoma
Everywhere
80% of gliomas
Most aggressive glial tumour
Glioblastoma
