Q

Define Omnibus rule:

A

Omnibus rule was released in 2013 to modify HIPPA regulations. Was an effort to strengthen PHI protection and enhabce privacy rights of patients. It ensures that the PHI of adult dependents i.e. dependenfs who have reached the age of 18 stays protected and private. This means any PHI for adult dependents can only be shared with another member, even the card holder for the account, if the adult dependent has given permission via verbal or written authorization.
