Puberty
Assume fertility after first menarche or ejaculation
Female
1st menses 2 years after Breast buds

Precocious puberty: >7 years breast/hair development
Delayed:
- no breast development by 13years

After menses 95% of height
- increase in fat mass

Males
Initial changes:
- testicular enlargement

Final change:
- deepening of voice
Gynecomastia: 50% of boys
- painful, big Nipples; out pains aids over them so no friction, normal
Precocious: secondary changes <9 years old
Height growth ceases by 20 years old
Decrease in fat mass, increase in muscle mass

- affected by experiences and opportunities
- autonomy, risk taking behaviors, look to friends more so than family
Sexuality:
-62% of senior girls and 61% of senior boys are sexually active
Sexual Orientation:
- most heterosexual
Peer Groups:
- include groups of opposite sex
Intimate relationships:
- doesn’t always include sexual relations
- includes sharing of private, sensitive info
