Clinical Manifestations of shingles

A

Linear distribution along a dermatologist of grouped vesicles and pustules on erythema tours base resembling chickenpox.

Usually unilateral on trunk, face and limbo sacral areas

Burning pain and neuralgia preceding outbreak. Mild to severe pain during outbreak.

Treatment and Prognosis: Shingles

A

Symptomatic.

Antiviral against writhing 72 hours prevent post hermetic neuralgia

Wet compresses, silver sulfadizine to ruptured vesicles

Analgesia. Mild sedation at bedtime.

Usually heals without complications bu scarring and post hermetic neuralgia possible.

Vaccine to prevent shingles available for adults agent 50+

Etiology and pathos hydrology of Shingles

A

Activation of the varicella-zoster virus

Incident increases with age

Potentially contagious to anyone who has have varicella or immunosuppressed
