what are the features of herpes simplex keratitis?
A
- red, painful eye
- photophobia
- epiphora (excessive watering of the eye)
- visual acuity may be decreased
- fluorescein staining may show an epithelial ulcer (linear, branching)

how do you manage herpes simplex keratitis?
A
- immediate referral to an ophthalmologist
- topical aciclovir
