Reducible = Push back into place Irreducible = Cant push back)
What are the types of Irreducible hernias
Obstructed (Intestinal obstruction)
Strangulated (Intestinal ischemia)
Incarcerated (Contents in sac w/ no obstruction/ischemia)
What is a hiatal hernia
Stomach through diaphragm aperture (sliding vs rolling)
What are the two types of hiatal hernia
Sliding = LOS slides in abdo Rolling = LOS stays in Abdo w/ Fundus in thorax
What is the difference between sliding and rolling hiatal hernia
Sliding LOS stays in abdo
Rolling LOS stays in abdo but fundus to thorax

GORD
Dysphagia
Px = obese women 50+

Spermatic cord herniates Inguinal canal
What are the two types of Inguinal hernias
Direct = Hesselbach triangle (med. to inf. epigastrics)
Indirect =Outside Trriangle( Lateral to Inf. Epigastric)
What is the hesselbach triangle
Area medial to inferior epigastrics
Common for DIRECT inguinal hernias
What are the RF for inguinal hernias
Male
Heavy lifting
Abdo pressure
What are the presentations of Inguinal hernias
Painful groin swelling
Can be reducible
How is Inguinal hernia diagnosed
Clinical test
