The war of 1812

A

On August 19, 1812, USS Constitution met and defeated HMS Guerriere, a 38-gun British frigate under the command of Captain James Richard Dacres. While relatively inconsequential in strategic terms for the War of 1812, the stunning victory provided a much needed morale boost for the American public.

The Great White Fleet was a sixteen battleship fleet that sailed on a world voyage from December 16, 1907 - February 22, 1909. Its primary purpose was to showcase American naval power. Dubbed the Great White Fleet because the ships were painted all white.

The Battle of the Atlantic

A

On the Atlantic side of World War II, The German submarine menace was contained, and England and Europe got vital supplies and troops. The first phase of the battle for the Atlantic lasted from the autumn of 1939 until the fall of France in June 1940.

1939 to the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945, covering a major part of the naval history of World War II. At its core was the Allied naval blockade of Germany, announced the day after the declaration of war, and Germany’s subsequent counter-blockade. The campaign peaked from mid-1940 through to the end of 1943.
