Describe Henry VIII’s style of government?
Henry liked to have an overview of government however he was happy to let others to do the mundane work for him.
What was the role of Parliament before 1530?
The was little to suggest that the role of Parliament differed from his father ( continuity ). Its two main functions remained: to grant extraordinary revenue to the crown and to pass laws. Before 1529, Henry only summoned Parliaments in 1510, 1512, 1515 and 1523.

A conciliar government is one in which decisions are made by a council, ( continuity from his father)
Why did the conciliar approach to government end in 1514?
- Henry became disenchanted with the reluctance of some of his fathers senior councillors to support a war with France.
- As he became more attuned to governing, he became increasingly his own man by asserting his undoubted right to control decision making
