Q

Why did he date his reign from 21/08/1485?

A

Allows him to treat Yorkists as traitors. He also imprisons Yorkists, e.g. John DLP (who was widely thought to be R3’s heir - given revenues of Duchy of Cornwall, traditionally given to the heir) and the Earl of Warwick, although DLP is released after professing his loyalty.

Q

Lambert Simnel - 1486-1487

Battle of Stoke - 16 June 1487

A

Pupil of Dick Simmons, who trains him to behave like Earl of Warwick. Proclaimed King E6. H7 parades the real Earl of Warwick through the streets of London, but this doesn’t stop Simnel from escaping to Ireland and gathering support from 3k German mercenaries and John DLP. H7 meets them at the Battle of Stoke with 12k, against Simnel’s 8k. Many of H7’s supporters held back because they wanted to be on the winning side, like at Bosworth. Simnel spared to work in kitchen.

Edmund DLP

A

Had to pay £5k to inherit only part of his lands - had to pay for John DLP’s actions. Fled to Max’s court and called himself the White Rose.
