anticoagulated tube = plasma (liquid portion). Has fibrinogen
coagulated tube = serum. No fibrinogen
When to invert the tubes?
Immediately after drawing specimen

Sites for capillary puncture
● In pediatric patients, we use the lateral or medial sides of the heel
●Fingers - puncture across fingerprints (perpendicular)
