tumor lysis syndrome lab and physical findings

A

rapid destruction of large number of cells
elevated serum phosphate causes calcium to go down causing hypocalcemia
hyperuricemia
hyperphosphatemia
hyperkalemia
hypocalcemia
occurs 24-48 hours after chemo and may persist 5-7 days
physical findings- presence of abdominal pain, dysuria, oliguria, flank pain, hematuria
hypocalcemia- anorexia, vomiting cramps spasms altered mental status tetany
hyperkalemia- weakness and paralysis
