Heart and Great Vessels Flashcards
Blood supply to the pericardium?
Pericardial arteries
Pericardiacophrenic arteries
Musculophrenic arteries
Nerve supply to the pericardium?
CN X
Phrenic
Sympathetic
Where is the apex projection of the heart?
interclavicular line in 5th intercostal space
Where does the pericardium extend to?
sternal angle
Epicardium?
Visceral layer of serous pericardium and subserous layer of CT
Myocardium?
Middle layer thickest, cardiac muscle tissue
Endocardium?
Endothelium, inner layer
What is the annuli fibrosi?
interlocking fibrous rings that connect with the membranous portion of IV septum.
Functions are to attach cardiac muscle fibers and support valves
Where is the apex of the heart located?
fifth intercostal space medial to nipple formed from left ventricle
Where is he diaphragmatic surface?
Rests on the diaphragm, and is mostly the left ventricle and small portion of right
Where is the sternocostal surface?
Faces anteriorly mostly right ventricle
What are the direct branches off the ascending aorta?
Coronary arteries
Where does the right coronary artery go?
between pulmonary trunk and right auricle to the coronary sulcus to the diaphragmatic surface
What does the right coronary artery supply?
Right atrium, ventricle and posterior half of IVS
What are the right coronary artery branches?
SA node
AV node
Right marginal
Posterior interventricular (Posterior descending)
