Heart Flashcards
What part of heart do leads II,III and avf view?
Inferior wall
What part of heart do leads I, AvL, v5, and v6 view
Lateral wall of left ventricle
What part of the heart does avR, v1, and v2 view?
Right ventricle
What part of the heart does leads v1 through v4 view?
Anterior septal
The left anterior descending artery supplies what portion of the heart?
Anterior surface of the left ventricle, part of the lateral surface of the left ventricle. And a portion of the intraventricular septum
The circumflex artery supplies what part of heart?
Left atrium, part of the lateral surface of the left ventricle, ( the inferior surface of the left ventricle, the posterior surface of the left ventricle in about 15 percent of people ) the SA node in 40 percent of people and the AV bundle in about 10 to 15 percent of people.
What part of heart do branches of the right coronary artery supply blood to?
Walls of the right atrium and ventricle, a portion of the inferior part of the left ventricle, and portions of the conduction system ( the SA node in about 60% of people in the AV bundle in about 85% to 90% of people)
Pericarditis symptom
Flushed warm skin
Mi and cardiogenic shock signs
Cool sweaty skin
Anti arrhythmic drugs
digoxin (lanoxin), procainamide (procan, pronestyl) amiodarone (cordarone) and verapamil (calan, isoptin, verelan)
Anticoagulant drugs
Enoxaparin (lovenox) clopidogrel (plavix) and warfarin ( coumadin)
Angiodestin-converting enzyme inhibitors
Captopril (capoten) enalapril (vasotec) and lisinopril ( prinivil, zestril)
Beta blocker drugs
Atenolol (tenormin), metoprolol (lopressor) and propranolol ( inderal)
Lipid lowering agent drugs
Gemfibrosin (lopid) , atorvastatin (lipitor) , fluvastatin (lescol) , lovastatin (mevacor) , pravastatin ( Pravachol) , rosuvastatin calcium (crestor) and simvastatin (zocor)
Diuretic drug
Furosemide (Lasix)
Vasodialator drugs
Nitroglycerin (nitrostat) and isosorbide (isordril)
What is pulsus paradoxis and what causes it
Pulsus paridoxis is a fall in systolic blood pressure upon inspiration the systolic blood pressure falls more than 10 mm Hg causes of this are AMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac tamponade, and constructive pericarditis
What is pulsus alternans and what causes it
This a beat to beat difference in the strength of a pulse and could be a sign of severe ventricular failure
What is the s3 sound and what is it associated with
S3 is a vibration of the ventricular walls during rapid filling and is often associated with heart failure
What is s4 heart sound and what causes it
S4 is a rare heart sound caused by turbulent filling of a stiff ventricular and is heard in hypertrophy and possible MI
What is toprol (metaprolol) and what is it used for?
It is a beta blocker used to treat various cardiovascular conditions including hypertension and tachydysrhythmias
When do you use magnesium sulfate and how much ?
1 to 2g use with torsade de pointes
What does st depression and or T wave inversion mean?
Myocardial ischemia
What does st elevation greater than or equal to 1 mm in two or more continuous leads mean?
Myocardial injury
