- Provincial government is responsible for health system (Public Authority and Not For Profit)
- Comprehensive (All medically necessary services are covered, anything done in hospital)
- Universal (Covers all residents)
- Portable (Covers residents travelling in Canada and moving within Canada)
- Accessible
