What is the hierarchy of risk control outlined in RICS Surveying Safely?

  1. Elimination - Can the hazard be eliminated by changing the approach.
  2. Substitution - Replace the materials used or the proposed work process with a less hazardous one..
  3. Engineering Controls - Use work equipment or other measures to prevent falls where you cannot avoid working at height.
  4. Administrative tools - identifying and implementing the
    procedures needed to work safely.
  5. Personal protective clothes and equipment - after all the previous risk control measures have been tried
    and found ineffective , personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used.
