Health promotion
Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health. To reach a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, an individual or group must be able to identify and to realise aspirations, to satisfy needs, and to change or cope with the environment.
Health promotion aims to

Prevent ill health from occurring
Advance the health of an individual and the community through successful intervention

Educational eg raising public awareness of a health issue through schools and social media/advertising

- Operational eg cooperative partnerships between industry, NGOs and education sector
- Economic eg interventions such as policies, laws, taxes and subsidies to improve health and provide greater access to health products
- Regulatory eg legislation and regulations that are conducive to healthy behaviours eg active transport
- Technological eg use of apps and online methods
