Four examples of social determinants.
culture, social exclusion, food, stress, addiction
Four examples of socioeconomic determinants.
education, employment, housing, income, access to services, neighborhood, family, migration/refugee status
Four examples of environmental determinants for both built and natural.
Environmental determinants-
Natural: water and food quality, UV radiation, extreme weather- bushfires, storms and flooding
Built: indoor air quality, walkability, transport, greenspace, environmental noise
Two biomedical determinants.
body weight, birth weight
Social Model of Health – broad idea of framework
Broad features of society, environmental factors, geographic location –> socioeconomic characteristics, knowledge, attitudes and beliefs –> health behaviors, psychological factors, safety factors –> biomedical factors –> health and wellbeing overtime.
What are the determinants of health?
The non-medical factors that influence health outcomes. They are the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age, and the wider set of forces and systems shaping the conditions of life.
