Allsop ensures that all workers required to undertake lone working are competent and able to work alone

Does your lone working policy refer to a risk assessment?

Answer 2

Where persons are employed to carry out lone work, their role risk assessment will consider the task, environment and experience of the worker. Risk assessments will focus on the following hazards.

1. Accident, injury or illness
2. Failure to realise the hazard associated with their work either to themselves or others around them
3. Failue to maintain a safe system of work
4. Failure to appreciate their individual capability
5. Physical violence.
   Where the risk of the above remains high, lone working should not be carried out.

● To ensure that the inspecting surveyor has a point of contact in the office during the course of their inspections.
● Ensure that the surveyor has checked in at the end of the day / end of inspections if not returning to the office.

● Buddy to contact the inspecting surveyor by mobile and home telephone.
● Buddy to contact the person the surveyor was meeting.
● Buddy to check with IT as to whether the network is down in the area where the surveyor is inspecting.
● If no reported issues inform one of the partners detailed
