What are some of the key points of the Fire Safety Regulations 2022?
The Responsible person is required to:
- Provide building plans to the fire and rescue service.
- Provide infromation on external wall materials to the F&RS.
- Monthly checks on evacuation lifts.
- Information boxes - responsible person and hard copy of building plns.
What are the Fire Safety Regulations 2022?
Government’s response to the recomendation following the completion of the Grenfell Phase 1 inquiry.
What were some of the key recommendations of Grenfell’s phase 1 inquiry?
Sharing information on building plans and mateirlas with the F&RS.
Inspections of fire safety equipment such as fire doors.
Develop policies and providng training to F&RS for the evacuation of high-rise buildings.
Better communication between emergency services in response to major incidents.
What is the definition of a high-rise buiding?
7 storeys or is at least 18 metres high.
Who is the responsible person?
The person responsible for the safety of themselves and others who use a regulated premises.
This is normally a building owner, or in residential properties, any other person in control of the premises. The responsible person is the person on whom most of the duties set out in the Fire Safety Order are imposed.
What are the key points of the Building Safety Act 2022?
Establishment of the Building Safety Regulator - focus on high risk buildings.
Golden Thread - digital record of building information from design all the way throughout the building’s lifecycle.
Gateway 1 - consideration of fire safety measures within the planning application.
Gateway 2 - the completed design is submitted to the BSR for approval prior to commencement of construction.
Gateway 3 - prior to building occupation a final assessment is made by the BSR and a completion certificate is issued. Ensures compliance with standards and submitted plans.
