what can cause ill health?
diseases
why are people with underlying health conditions at more risk of suffering from communicable disease?
they’re body is less likely to defend itself against the pathogen that causes disease as their immune system is weaker
what can increase risk of developing liver cancer?
•infection by certain viruses e.g. hepatitis virus can cause long term infection in the liver increasing risk of liver cancer
what can immune system reactions caused by infection by a pathogen lead to?
allergies reactions e.g. skin rashes or worsened symptoms of asthma if you already suffer from it
can physical health impact mental health?
•yes- people can develop depression when suffering from severe physical health issues
•usually when the illness has an impact on the patients ability to carry out tasks or on their life expectancy
what factors can affect your health?
•diet e.g. a balanced diet or poor diet
•stress
•life situation e.g. poorer people may not have access to medicines to treat illnesses
what is a balanced diet?
a diet that provides your body with the right nutrients in the right amounts
What increases risk of developing cervical cancer?
HPV (human papilloma virus)
