cells are the basic buildings blocks that make up all living organisms
what is tissue?
•a group of similar cells that work together to carry out a particular function
•can include more than one type of cell
what is the role of muscular tissue in mammals?
muscular tissue contracts to move what ever it’s attached to
what is the role of glandular tissue in mammals?
makes and secretes chemicals like enzymes and hormones
what is the role of epithelial tissue in mammals?
epithelial tissue which covers some parts of the body e.g. the inside of the gut
what is an organ?
an organ is a group of different tissues that work together to carry out a certain function
what is the role of muscular tissue in the stomach?
it contracts to move the stomach wall and churn up the food
what is the role of glandular tissue in the stomach?
it makes digestive juices to digest food
what is the role of epithelial tissue in the stomach?
it covers the outside and inside of the stomach
what is an organ system?
an organ system is a group of organs working to perform a particular function
what is the role of the digestive system in mammals?
to break down large insoluble food molecules into nutrients that can be absorbed
