both may be familial but classic has stronger association
In basilar migraine what symptoms precede the headache?
neurological deficits: visual change (may evolve to complete blindness), irritability (may evolve to psychosis), mild hemiparesis to transient quadriplegia, stupor, syncope, and even coma for a few hours
common diseases associated with trigeminal neuralgia?
MS, basilar artery aneurysms, acoustic schwannomas, posterior fosssa meningiomas
all cause injury to CN V near brainstem
What is Tolosa-Hunt syndrome?
inflammatory - opthalmoplegia with headache and loss of sensation over the forehead
pupillary responses spared

difference between Trigeminal neuralgia and atypical facial pain?
how would you treat atypical facial pain?
with AFP there is usually constant deep pain not intermittent electrical pain
AFP has shown to respond well to antidepressants

Amytriptyline hydrochloride, propanolol, verapamil, valproate

what are some rescue meds for migraine
metoclopramide hydrochloride, sumatriptan, ergotamine tartrate
