In busy areas, parked cars can cause a hazard. What should you watch out for?
Children dashing out from between the cars
Car doors opening
Cars moving away
If you’re driving on a motorway/dual carriagway and you see a hazard ahead, what should you do?
Briefly use your hazard warning lights to warn the traffic behind
What should you do if your vehicle has broken down and is causing an obstruction?
Switch on hazard warning lights to warn other road users.
What should you do in wet weather?
4 second separation distance
What should you do in icy weather?
SLOW DOWN. allow 10x the separation distance you’d have in dry weather (so 20second gap)
What should you do in foggy weather?
Slow down, use dipped headlights
Use fog lights if visibility is less than 100 metres
Why are 2 way roads with three lanes more dangerous?
Traffic in both directions can use the middle lane to overtake
What should you do if you want to turn around on a one way street?
Dont try to turn around in the street. Go to the end of the road and then find a safe place to turn around.
